Description: | "An island off the southern part of Portage des Sioux Township, in the Missouri River. The conjecture has been made that it was so called because a man named Keen (or Keene) ""hogged"" it, appropriated it by ""squatting"" there. This seems, however, a speculative and doubtful explanation. More probably it was named for the animal." |
